Oaxacon Wood Animal Pins

My 4th graders created Oaxacon inspired wood animal pins!!

The students created these pins using woodsie wood shapes.  I gave each table a basket full of shapes and let them play with pieces to create as many animals as they could! They then had to choose 3 and draw them out on a piece of paper.  They chose one of those animals and glued their pieces together.  They then painted with tempera paints patterns and designs. These were done in 2 one hour classes.  During the 3rd class we will probably seal these and glue our pin backs on.
